Overview:
Alena Berry is a Ridgewood, NY–based mixed media artist whose vibrant colors and playful line work belie deeply emotional themes—from heartbreak and chronic pain to the melancholy of daily life. Central to her work is the motif of “melting,” a metaphor for slow transformation and resilience. Through painting, collage, and experimental sculpture, Berry captures moments of feeling unmoored yet hopeful—reminding viewers that change, though gradual and sometimes painful, leads to new forms of existence. Inspired by Keith Haring’s bold symbolism and Sofia Coppola’s intimate explorations of youth, she now seeks a dedicated Bushwick studio to expand into larger, kinetic installations that bring her melting motifs into three-dimensional space.
