Overview
Bethany Altschwager is a multidisciplinary artist whose work draws from the textures, signage, and layered histories of urban space. Based in North Bergen, New Jersey, she uses digital collage to explore the collisions between past and present, grit and elegance, chaos and form. Her compositions are assembled from found surfaces—graffiti, torn posters, paint remnants—transforming them into visual records of place, memory, and impermanence.

Altschwager’s process is intuitive and tactile, even in digital form. Each piece invites viewers to pause and read the built environment like a palimpsest—where beauty lives in wear, and stories emerge through fragments.
