Artist Profile: Bill Reed

Overview:
Bill Reed’s mixed media practice explores themes of trauma, media spectacle, and memory—centered on the 2011 Zanesville Massacre from his Ohio hometown. Through maximalist, installation-oriented works using oil, spray paint, found objects, and audio editing, he evokes the chaotic nature of conspiracy boards and propaganda. Reed’s process thrives on experimentation and layered problem-solving, often creating suspended or immersive formats.
Currently transitioning out of college, Reed seeks connection, feedback, and a deeper foothold in the NYC art scene. This residency offers both proximity and the challenge of engaging new audiences. His influences include Meow Wolf’s narrative-driven, immersive installations and Julia Soboleva’s emotionally vivid textures and unsettling moods.
