Overview
Brigid McGivern is a New York-based painter whose work navigates the subtle intersections between memory, geography, and embodiment. Through layered acrylic techniques and bold, organic abstractions, McGivern investigates how we map emotion and identity across internal and external landscapes. Her paintings are rooted in sensation—suggesting the feel of place, the pull of return, and the fragmented yet interconnected pathways we carry within us.

In Returning Home, McGivern presents a luminous triptych where fluid forms are separated yet intrinsically linked. Using a radiant palette of golds, ochres, and oranges edged in black, the piece evokes the cracked terrain of parched earth, neurons firing, or even the contours of muscle and memory. It’s a meditation on belonging, disconnection, and reconnection—offering viewers a visual language for the often indescribable experience of coming home to oneself.
