Overview
Gerald Hushlak is a Canadian artist and researcher whose hybrid practice merges art, science, and algorithmic design. Based in Calgary, Alberta, Hushlak has spent decades exploring digital methodologies, often collaborating with AI systems to produce complex visual structures that interrogate perception, form, and the aesthetics of data. His work bridges the boundaries between traditional fine art and new media innovation.

With a background in both painting and computer visualization, Hushlak’s imagery is born from generative systems that he refers to as “BreederArt”—a digital evolution process that mutates visual elements through selection, repetition, and hybridization. The resulting compositions are intricate, surreal, and conceptually rich, drawing from architecture, biology, and virtual architecture.
